When Thomas Jefferson wrote those words they could not have been more true. The press was a champion for the people against an oppressive overseas government; something that they could look to for guidance and information. Jefferson could never have imagined a world like ours where the media for an entire country falls under the vast control of a handfull of major corporations. Because of this, the press has lost its way, and failed at its true purpose: to enlighten the people and expose the truth.
